Inspired by a trip to the Puglia Region of southern Italy, "Turchese Porta" literally means turquoise door. It is my reimagination of quite a unique door I saw in the Province of Taranto. While the original door is stained in its natural color of deep brown, I pulled in all the rich colors that are seen in the architecture, landscape and even the food of Italy. From deep garnet to soft sage green to various shades of turquoise and terracotta, these are the colors that nourished my eyes and fed the inspiration for this piece.
